YEAR 1 / WEEK 51

WEEK 51: Puffer status ACHIEVED!!!!

Swipe for the before!!! This beautifully printed dress was calling my name as soon as @sydneyrachael_ ‘s generous donation of gently used clothing arrived and I had to drop all plans bc this became the mission!!! Eyeing my puffer jacket gave me the idea to try and make a puffy garment, and fortunately I had fill I had bought (to aspirationally make GG dog toys!!).

I was fairly visionless when starting out which was part of the fun but also a major challenge. Even though this looks nothing like the inspiration I started with, I’m glad to have given you guys a glimpse into the process of building from baseline!!! While it was fairly straightforward to make puffy tubes out of printed fabric and a linen tie belt (which I had in my scraps!!) it was a big unknown in terms of figuring out how much to stuff them, and/or how to arrange them around the curves of a human body. I also had no idea how to make bra cups, so thank goodness for @m.e.r.ma.id bc it was SO FUN learning!!! In the end, I am so proud of how this one came out. From the cleanness of the back, to the comfortability of it as a whole, I can’t wait to share this one +/ wear this one more!!!
