As a Board Member and the Creative Director for the Fine Art Advisory Council, I oversee the strategic governance and creative output for a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to championing K-12 fine arts education. I am passionate about bridging the gap between legacy institutional advocacy and modern digital storytelling to ensure that every student has the resources to create.

My role involves managing a $70,000 reserve for district-wide grants, professionalizing board operations, and directing the visual identity of our community-facing platforms. By integrating technical efficiency with artistic advocacy, I work to sustain a 40-year tradition of excellence in the arts.

DIGITAL TRANSFOR-MATION

Before my appointment, the council faced challenges with fragmented digital assets and inconsistent technical infrastructure. I spearheaded a comprehensive digital transformation, beginning with the technical relaunch of our official web presence at mifaac.org.

To streamline our creative workflow, I implemented Frame.io as our centralized digital asset management (DAM) platform. This allowed the board to transition away from disorganized email threads and toward a professionalized system for reviewing media, ensuring that historic institutional knowledge is preserved and that our website team can access high-quality assets in real-time. This shift didn't just improve efficiency; it empowered the board to operate with the agility of a modern creative agency.

VISUAL STORYTELLING

A primary focus of my tenure has been "humanizing" the arts through visual storytelling. As the council’s lead photographer, I document the creative process across the Mercer Island School District—from kindergarteners discovering clay to high schoolers mastering 3D printing and live performance.

By capturing these moments of guided instruction and practice, I created a district-wide media library that serves as the foundation for our official gallery and a newly launched Instagram presence. This initiative has resulted in record community engagement, as parents and stakeholders are now able to see the direct, tangible impact of the funds we raise.

MERCER ISLAND FINE ARTS SHOWCASE

The Fine Art Showcase is our flagship annual fundraiser and a 40-year tradition. For the upcoming 2026 event, I have been entrusted with directing the creative marketing strategy, including the design of our official promotional materials and the development of new sponsorship models.

To drive growth for the March 24th and 25th events, I conceptualized a "Step and Repeat" red-carpet experience to provide high-value brand visibility for our corporate partners. By combining interactive elements like a scavenger hunt and LEGO experiences with traditional visual and performing arts nights, we are ensuring that the Showcase remains the most anticipated cultural event in the district.

REFLECTIONS

Stepping onto a board with such a deep history required a balance of respect for tradition and a determination to innovate. My proudest moments aren't just the technical successes—the website relaunch or the asset management systems—but the relationships built with the educators in the classrooms.

I didn't join the FAAC for a title; I joined because I believe that access to the arts is a fundamental right for every student. By providing the district with professional-grade creative tools and strategic leadership, I am helping to ensure that the next generation of artists is seen, supported, and celebrated.
