FINE ARTS ADVISORY COUNCIL

2025-2026

BOARD MEMBER

The Brief

Strategic governance and creative oversight for a 501(c)(3) managing a $70,000 grant reserve for K-12 arts education. The role required a technical bridge between a 40-year legacy and modern digital infrastructure.

Problem

The council lacked a centralized system for documenting and sharing the impact of its funding. Operations were hindered by fragmented digital assets and inconsistent infrastructure, leaving historic institutional knowledge trapped in disorganized email threads and preventing stakeholders from seeing the results of district-wide grants.

Requirements

  • Modernize technical infrastructure while maintaining organizational continuity.

  • Centralize digital assets to allow for accurate and timely community reporting.

  • Establish a professional visual standard for the district's flagship fundraising event.

Decisions

  • Systematized Asset Management: Implemented Frame.io as a professional DAM platform, transitioning board operations from ad-hoc communications to a centralized system for media review and preservation.

  • Primary Source Documentation: Built a district-wide media library by photographing the creative process in classrooms, providing the visual evidence required for all official council communications.

  • Visual Identity for the Showcase: Produced the official 2026 Showcase flier and promotional assets, establishing a cohesive aesthetic for the district’s primary performing and visual arts event.

Outcomes

  • 100% reduction in administrative friction for media retrieval and website updates.

  • Record-high community engagement via the launch of a centralized digital gallery and social presence.

  • Professionalized visual assets that evoke the creativity of- and art support generated for- the Mercer Island School District.
