YEAR 1 / WEEK 52

52 FABRIC 52 WEEK MAKE!!!!!!!!!!

First off, a little about this make: we used fabrics from the last 51 weeks of upcycling (aka the most meta upcycle ever created and it came out so beautifully!!! Lined underneath with a layer of plastic grocery bags and then another layer of fabric (so there is nothing sticky on skin!!) the make kept so much raw material from going to waste.

The plastic bags were such a great addition as well, bc they added a stiffness to each fabric that allowed me to combine them without the stretchy ones pulling! Combining the top with this stunning donated skirt from @irenenaudrey_ meant that we got to add elements to the later to bring it all together.

And now: a word on what this year has meant to me- while on a long hike last January, @blaucomedy and I were exploring thoughts on a good way to turn this thing I enjoy into a dedicated, goal driven venture without jumping immediately into making & selling clothes to people. I wanted to build some skills and build an awareness of the boundaries of my creativity, and guys- I can honestly say we did just that. From painting with soap to accidentally painting the ground (lol), from bleaching mens maroon jeans to (unsuccessfully) bleaching a nike dry fit shirt, and from handling microbeads to lighting plastic on fire, its been a year for the books. Thank you guys so much for your attention, support and camaraderie as we voyaged onwards as artists and scientists. Here’s to the next year and many more <3
